The Great Lakes Field Program began in 2010 through a partnership between the Noble Odyssey Foundation (NOF) and the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary (TBNMS) in Alpena, MI. The program draws on the unique maritime resources of our two organizations to support education and research on and under the Great Lakes. Together, we can provide opportunities for field activities which will enhance college-level courses in science, technology and maritime culture, as they relate to the Great Lakes.
JOIN OUR PARTNERSHIP
Colleges and universities can now join in three-way partnerships with the NOF and TBNMS to gain direct access to the lakes for field studies and research projects. Schools may take advantage of this program to broaden the scope and appeal of their curricula with unique, hands-on field training for students and faculty on the open waters of the Great Lakes. Through such partnerships we can develop plans and arrangements for field support of your current or future courses.

Coming in 2012! This 108-ft. Navy training ship will be a major upgrade from our present 80-ft. Pride of Michigan. With a cruising range of 1,500 miles, accomodations for 30, and a large classroom/laboratory facility, the vessel will be an ideal platform for education and research at sea.
