An exciting new experience available to 10,000 U.S. Naval Sea Cadets throughout the United States.

This unique program began as Thunder Bay Odyssey. Sponsored jointly by the Noble Odyssey Foundation, the Naval Sea Cadet Corps, and the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary and Underwater Preserve, located at Alpena, Michigan on mighty Lake Huron, each group of young Cadet seafarers will experience 10 action-packed days of nautical training, diving and scientific research at the nation’s largest shipwreck preserve and the only National Marine Sanctuary in the Great Lakes.
The Great Lakes Odyssey program provides a unique "hands-on" educational experience in marine and maritime sciences and diver training. Voyages range throughout the Great Lakes.

Science teachers from schools throughout the U. S. learn about the technologies and methods used by scientists to study the Great Lakes environment. Much of the course is conducted aboard training and research vessels on Thunder Bay, Lake Huron.
