By involving Sea Cadets in scientific research projects, the NOF supports the Sea Cadet program, and the Great Lakes Division, NSCC in particular. Projects are conducted on board the training vessel, Pride of Michigan. Cadets work directly with scientists and other professionals in conducting underwater collection of data and in geological, archeological and natural sciences exploration.
Underwater Research and other projects result in documentary films and other educational materials which enhance public understanding of the natural history of the Great Lakes.
